Opportunity at a Glance

The Business Intelligence Specialist is responsible for gathering and analyzing data; finding patterns and making recommendations to improve our marketing and product strategies. Your goal will be to help our company analyze trends to make better decisions.

 

The qualified candidate will be a highly quantitative individual, with a natural curiosity and skepticism, and an eye for spotting new opportunities to test and experiment. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential, as is a passion for research.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns, unlocking new opportunities for growth and ways to operate more effectively.
  • Seek out problems and undertake the processing of structured and unstructured data
  • Identify valuable data sources and create scalable, innovative approaches to extracting, managing, and analyzing data
  • Identify and implement analytics tools and technology, providing subject matter expertise and representing stakeholder interests in selection process.
  • Collaborate with marketers and senior leaders to build various predictive models and forecasts; post solutions, strategies and tests to solve business challenges; verify their significance and overall impact
  • Present information using data visualization techniques
  • Provide support interpreting attribution data and provide recommendations.
  • Create and develop smart, compelling self-service reports that track KPIs and provide actionable recommendations for different levels of granularity.
  • Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges
  • Collaborate with marketing teammates, product managers, product development teams, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to ingest, model and standardize data while also defining KPIs.

Qualifications

  • 3 - 5 years of experience working with databases, reporting on data and working in an analytical capacity
  • Prior role as Data Scientist or Data Analyst
  • Strong analytics ability, and statistical or mathematical modeling
  • Experience in data mining
  • Understanding of machine-learning and operations research
  • Familiarity with MS SQL, Biq Query and CRM solutions (SalesForce)
  • Knowledge of R, SQL and Python; familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset
  • Hands-on experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau or Power BI), data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop) and web analytics technologies (Google Analytics preferred)
  • Experience with marketing campaigns, vendors and systems. Understanding of marketing KPIs, and be comfortable with processing and analyzing marketing data.
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving aptitude
  • Ability to extract meaning and suggest action items from data, not just report metrics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or relevant field; graduate degree in Data Science or other quantitative field is preferred
